As the new Moon begins a new cycle in Cancer, Neptune begins its six month-retrograde in Pisces. This week promises to be a deeply spiritual, intuitive, and healing time that invites us to go inward and explore self-compassion, allow our emotions to guide us, and not forget that magic is real through moments that feel nothing short of sacred.

Neptune retrograde

Just as nature reminds us of a slower pace, planetary retrogrades do the same. They are an invitation to mimic the seemingly backward motion of a planet and to remind ourselves that slowing down and going within are a necessity so that we can hear our inner guidance once again.

When a planet is in retrograde, it isn’t actually moving backward as our ancestors believed. Rather, the Earth completes its shorter orbit around the Sun more quickly than most other planets, and therefore periodically overtakes them. It is when the Earth overtakes these planets that it looks, from our perspective, as if they are, indeed, moving backward.

While the speed of the Earth and life around us moves on, there is a part of us that doesn’t. That part of us is represented by the planet in retrograde. The part of us that instead slows down. The part that takes a moment to ponder its path and question its actions. We are reminded of the need become still enough to look around and make sure it is taking steps that are true, fulfilling, nourishing, and in alignment with what it truly desires for its life.

On June 28, Neptune begins its six-month retrograde in the sign of Pisces. This is a deeply spiritual retrograde in which the invitation is that of intuition, imagination, creativity, and compassion for ourselves and those around us.

In astrology, Neptune is known as dreamy, abstract, subtle, and intuitive. It holds the energy of oneness with a spiritual nature. This is the part of us that is slowing down, reassessing, realigning, understanding itself with greater depth. The nurturing meditation or yoga flow that allows us to feel oneness with all of life around us, when the boundaries between Self and all that is become blurred, the moments where everything becomes still…this is Neptune.

Ask yourself, how does your sense of spirituality bring a sense of healing to your life? How can you trust more deeply in the intangible and intuitive flow that guides you? How can you allow yourself a greater sense of empathy?

New Moon in Cancer

New Moons are the beginning of a new cycle. Here is where we find stillness, quiet, and an emptiness that asks us to begin again, to leap into the mystery, to say yes to ourselves.

Cancer is an intuitive, nurturing, and tender sign. The Moon has a different relationship and expression with each zodiac sign. With Cancer, she is at home, safe, secure, and able to shine in all her intuitive and mysterious magic, just as we can when our hearts feel safe.

The potential that each new Moon holds—beginnings, dreaming, visioning, and daring to step into our desires—strengthens in Cancer. So while we speak our dreams into the Universe, it is the Moon that reassures us each step of the way with the knowing that those dreams will soon be our reality.

The magic of Cancer is the richness and connection it invites us to bring into our relationship with our emotions. It is through this connection that we can hear the quietest and truest desires of our hearts, and that prompts us to say yes to these by saying yes to ourselves.

Neptune retrograde begins on the same day as the new Moon, allowing the intuitive nature of the Moon and Cancer to be enhanced.

Your invitation

Compassion. Imagination. Spirituality. Inner healing. New desires. These are the invitations and potentials of this week, if only we dare to lean in and trust the direction that our hearts are leading us.

It will be a week that is guided by emotion and intuition over logic and planning. While the latter are present and available to you, allow yourself a sense of expansion and intuition in the way you move about your days. There is an invitation to lean into the spiritual practices that speak to you, and to reestablish a relationship and dialogue with your understanding of spirituality, universe, the divine, God, Higher Self, etc.

Speak to your inner child, write love letters to the Earth, ask your intuition questions, and let the Universe speak to you through synchronicities. Beneath the new Moon, declare your dreams and desires into the world while reminding yourself that you are unquestionably worthy of these dreams.

Words of healing

Within me is a spark of divine magic. I am unique, sacred, and wise.

My inner world is a nourishing place to swim.

My connection to the Universe fills my being with love. Gratitude and awe flow from my Self.

I allow myself to see the spark of oneness in all that surrounds me, from family to strangers, flowers to the entirety of existence.

My dreams are ready and waiting for me to say yes to them.
