With the help of generous donors, ASBAH has been funding high quality research for over 40 years. Our field of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus has seen spectacular advances in understanding causes, effects and treatments, and this has transformed the life prospects of those affected. Medical research is a fundamental aim of the association, which enables us to give authoritative information to our service-users.
Today, people with Spina Bifida and / or Hydrocephalus are living longer, with less disability and a higher quality of life than ever before. We aim to take this even further, in the primary prevention of disability and, where disability does occur, in improving medical and surgical treatments and in effective therapeutic approaches.
As a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities, ASBAH upholds the highest standards of practice in selecting, funding and managing research. Our Medical Advisory Committee includes distinguished specialists from relevant disciplines who freely give their time and expertise. Together we can build on success in this most worhwhile of endeavours.
