Education .... overcoming challenges and achieving for all

ASBAH’s education advisers know all about the challenges of getting the best education – from getting your child into the right school, to transition planning and going to college or university.

Working with parents, children and teachers, they ensure that the effects hydrocephalus can have on memoryconcentration, organisation and behaviour are recognised, so that they don’t stop children achieving their potential. Call our helpline number: 0845 450 7755 to get in touch.

Young Children Banner

Starting from birth, ASBAH can help you to help your child - with practical things you can do at home to assist their learning and development. ‘Your Child and Hydrocephalus’ is a practical guide for parents and is packed with the information you need. Helping children to establish a good continence routine is so important in maintaining healthy bladder and bowels.

We have leaflets and booklets on toilet training and continence, including ASBAH’s Big B&B book. This book is an easy to understand guide to this subject, for children up to 8 years old, but is also an activity book, plus activity sheets – with more available to download.

Young People

Older children and teens can visit Young ASBAH - a dedicated website for 12-17 year-olds, answering lots of questions about living with hydrocephalus or spina bifida, relationships, making friends, looking after yourself... and more!
